In-Game Currencies in Star Citizen
For now, there are three currencies in Star Citizen, and here is detailed information about them and why you need each currency to become a successful space voyager. Although chances are that some of these currencies will change in future updates, most of these will remain till the end of the universe.
- aUEC – Alpha United Earth Credits
- UEC – United Earth Credits
- REC – Rental Equipment Credits
- Store Credit
aUEC – Alpha United Earth Credits
For the Alpha Phase, there is a currency that players will be using called the aUEC. aUEC stands for Alpha United Earth Credits which is a temporary currency that is launched for the course of the Alpha phase only. With this currency, they can test the in-game economy.
To help players in earning aUEC, developers have added separate missions to the in-game computer, which is also known as mobiGlas. These missions can be difficult, but the reward for them will also increase. To survive in the universe, you can Buy Star Citizen aUEC.
You can check the starting aUEC in your account from the official website of the game, but you will have to go to the game to check it once you start doing these missions. It isn’t necessary for you to do too much grinding as this is a temporary currency, and it won’t be a part of the full version of Star Citizen. With new versions, the balance of aUEC will reset.
Although developers have stated that they will try their best to retain the aUEC and other currencies in the wallet of players to a great extent, there are still risks related to it. The good thing is that developers inform players about any upcoming update that will erase their wallet so they can spend it on items before the update.
As mentioned above, you can purchase ships with aUEC, and there are two locations in the current version of Star Citizen where you can purchase them. The first location is a shop named Deal Ship Shop in Lorville, while the second location is the Astro Armada in ArcCorp.
In future updates, new locations will also be added to Star Citizen. You should use the rental equipment currency to rent a ship before you purchase it. Buying a ship requires a lot of in-game currency, so you should never invest in a ship blindly.
There are only a limited number of land vehicles and spaceships that you can purchase with Alpha United Earth Credits.
UEC – United Earth Credits
Star Citizen UEC, also known as United Erath Credits, is the official currency to buy in-game items such as weapons, decoration stuff, and shields. This currency is an important part of the Star Citizen economy, and it will be used to purchase most of the stuff in the final version of the game.
If you want to easily take the first steps of your space journey, United Earth Credits should be your first priority. Each player will receive a specific amount of UEC when the full version of Star Citizen is released. For now, there is no way that you can earn this currency except for specific game packages that you can purchase.
REC – Rental Equipment Credits
REC is the official currency for all the available arena commander game modes in Star Citizen. REC stands for rental equipment credits. As the name suggests, this currency is used to rent a variety of different stuff, such as weapons, components, and full-fledged ships.
The best thing about having enough is that you can test things out, such as new components and stuff like that, before you purchase it with other currencies. To earn Rental equipment credits, you will need a game key that provides you access to the arena commander mode.
In the arena, players can enjoy any multiplayer game mode and make rental equipment credits. Except for the free flight game mode, all the other modes will provide you with rental credits, but the earnings depend on the difficulty of the game mode.
After you finish a match in the desired game mode, detailed information about how much currency you have made will be shown. You should check this report to learn about methods that are the best and focus on them. Races are the second best way to earn any rental equipment credits that you need, but they should be in the second position on your priority list.
When you rent a ship with the rental credits, it will be available for you for five days, and you will have to rent it again after that. All the updates that will be installed on the rented ship will be gone. Depending on your universe, the ship rent time won’t be calculated if you don’t use that rented ship.
Once you rent a ship or any other equipment with the rental equipment credits, you can’t get a refund. Unlike other items that you can gift to your friends in Star Citizen, you can’t gift any rented items to them.
Store Credit
Store Credit currency is used in Star Citizen to upgrade ships, UEC Chits, and pledges. To earn these store credits, you will need to reclaim your pledges. For this purpose, go to the hangar section in your Star Citizen account on the official website. This currency is required to purchase game packages, items, weapons, and ships from the online Star Citizen store. You can’t transfer the store credit from one Star Citizen account to other. MMOpixel is a trustworthy option for those who want to purchase a variety of in-game currencies for popular games.
